Fragaria, commonly known as strawberry (photos), is a hybrid species that is cultivated worldwide for its fruit, strawberry common. It is also called strawberry pineapple, strawberry or pineapple. The fruit (which is not a botanical berry, but a comprehensive accessory fruit) is widely appreciated for its characteristic aroma, bright red color, juicy texture and sweet. It is consumed in large quantities, fresh or in prepared foods such as preserves, fruit juice, pies, ice cream and milkshakes. Artificial strawberry flavor is also widely used in many industrialized food products.
